About Cycad Central
A new home for cycad enthusiasts, collectors, experts and sellers
Cycad Central is a South African-focused digital platform created to bring the cycad community together in one trusted, informative and traceable environment.
Our goal is simple: to make it easier to learn about cycads, identify plants, connect with knowledgeable people, and buy or sell cycads with greater confidence.
From experienced collectors and growers to newcomers discovering cycads for the first time, Cycad Central is being developed as a place where knowledge, community and responsible cycad ownership can come together.

Community
Cycad Central is more than a marketplace. It is being built as a community where enthusiasts can learn, share experiences, ask questions and connect with others who share their passion for cycads.
Built with trust in mind
Cycad Central is being developed around three important principles:
Proven. Verified. Traceable.
We understand that cycads can have significant botanical, conservation and financial value. For that reason, we are working to create systems that encourage accurate information, responsible trading and better record keeping.
Where appropriate, information and identification processes are supported by recognised botanical, conservation and expert sources. Cycad Central does not replace official permits, legislation, conservation authorities or professional botanical determination.
Users remain responsible for complying with all applicable South African laws, regulations and permit requirements when buying, selling, transporting or possessing cycads.
A growing platform
Cycad Central is currently in its soft launch phase.
A significant amount of work has already gone into building the platform, its identification systems, verification processes, marketplace infrastructure and community features. However, we believe Cycad Central should continue to develop alongside the people who use it.
Over the coming months, we will continue improving existing features and introducing additional functionality based on real-world use, expert input and community feedback.
This is only the beginning.
Our vision
Our vision is to build a trusted digital ecosystem for the South African cycad community — connecting knowledge, identification, experts, collectors, growers, sellers and buyers in one platform.
We want Cycad Central to become a place where people can not only discover and trade cycads, but also learn more about them, preserve knowledge about them and help promote responsible cycad ownership for future generations.
