Sellers put plants up for a 24 or 48 hour auction. The highest bid at the hard close wins, provided it meets the seller's reserve — a winning bid becomes an order automatically. Verified plants carry an independent expert's confirmation of species and measurements.

15 minute high stakes, high stress auction
Live formatA short, deliberately intense format for standout plants. The clock runs for fifteen minutes only. Every bid in the final minute resets the clock to one minute, so the auction ends the moment the room goes quiet — not on a timestamp somebody sniped. No reserve is hidden: the price the plant must reach is published before the doors open, and the first bid to pass it buys the plant if nobody answers.
Fifteen minutes, hard start
The start time is announced in advance. Be in the room — there is no catch-up window and no extension beyond the rolling close.
One minute rolling close
Any bid inside the last minute pushes the clock back to one minute, capped at the published extension limit. Quiet room, plant sold.
Binding and unforgiving
No deposit is taken to enter and nothing is held against your card — only the winner pays, after the close. Bids cannot be retracted, proxy maximums are honoured, and a winner who walks away is flagged for review and can lose access to the app.
Plants do not need to be expert verified to enter this format — verified and unverified plants are both welcome, so check the listing detail yourself before you bid. Bidders do need completed account details. If you bid nervously, bid in the 24 or 48 hour auctions instead — this format is built for people who already know exactly what the plant is worth to them.

Future dated auctions
Booked in advanceSellers can book a plant to go on auction at a set date and time. Until then the plant waits here with its start date, time and a countdown, and goes on auction by itself the moment that time is reached. All times are South African time.

Every plant card shows exactly when bidding opens, with a live countdown.
Kept until it starts
While it waits, the plant cannot be bought, offered on or bid on early.
Share the smart link
Copy the plant's smart link to social media — it shows the start date and time and opens the plant in Cycad Central.

Bids are binding
A bid is a commitment to buy at that price. It cannot be retracted.
Only the winner pays
Bidding costs nothing and no card is held. At close, the winning bid becomes an order to pay.
